Default USAA Banking?

Anyone use USAA for their banking? WF finally did it and I don't feel like paying $300 a year for a "high yield" savings account.

.15% is high yield?

What does USAA offer?

I've been using Discover Bank for a savings account for the past couple years, I think they're at .85% and no fees or minimums, IIRC.

found it....

https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/bank...ce_first_rates

maxes out at .3%

Even with CD's you'd have to go at least 30 months to match Discover.

I've been using USAA since I started the military. I have my Checking, Savings, Truck loan, Motorcycle loan, and insurance all through them and have had nothing but great things to say about them.

Been with USAA for 18 years. Banking, loans, and Insurance. Only wish I'd done it sooner.

X5 on the above positive remarks. The only thing I don't have thru USAA is banking; have had no issues with AKUSA.
House Insurance, IRA's, Money Market, Vehicle Insurance, Mortgages, Life Insurance, Vehicle loan, etc are all thru USAA.

The only thing I that annoys me is that the only branch in in tx and depositing checks can be a pita.

Before the digital era, you'd call in on the 800# and they'd send you SASE envelopes to make deposits with. They'd only send you so many per phone call.
Like 10-15 envelopes, some such a thing.

This was long before direct deposit became common place.

I use USAA for insurance and banking and have used them for car loans in the past, they are great. I looked at them for investments but their fees are higher than vanguard so I went with vanguard for my investments.

As for depositing checks, I take a picture of both sides of the check with the usaa app on my phone and bam! it's in the bank! simple clean and convenient.

AKusa has the same thing, quick easy mobile check deposits.

I agree about the local branch comment, and that's really only an issue when depositing cash. The check depositing has never been an issue for me.

Also,
If you don't want to use the USAA app to deposit checks, you can deposit them at any UPS Store. No cash deposits though.

The UPS stores that did check deposits in FL did cash deposits also.
