I'll be working mon-wed in Anchorage, but if you want you could stop by later in the week or the weekend and grab what you need Joe.

Got one rear leaf in. I'll get the other one done next weekend. I ended up cutting the front leaf bolt out, then using a hole saw threw the frame to be able to put a nut on the new bolt. Now I need to reinforce the section around where I put the hole.

cut off the wanna be rock slider on the driver side.

I was kind of thinking I could throw some D rings on it and use it as a bumper, untell I learn how to build something nice that is.

and now this is how it currently sits, remember the pass side spring is still sacked out, so alot of the weight is being held on this spring. and theres a D30 sitting inside my jeep along with other misc parts and tools. with everything in it this still sits 2.5" higher then the old spring.

Not bad. Any plans for bigger lift/tires soon or any fabricated goodness?

The plan is over time 3-4"ish short arm lift, 33"s, 8.25 or 8.8 locked rear leave the front open and 4.10's, stubby front bumper with the winch tucked under the rad and a light rear bumper with tow points and reinforce the uni-frame front to back. Also been considering cutting the rusty/smashed rockers out and replacing them with 2x4 or 2x6 square tube and brace them to the uni-frame rails. Im not looking to build a swamp buggy, just a good capable low COG trail rig that I'm able to drive to the trail.

Or, if I stop DD'ing this I have a d44/9" from a 76' f150 I could put under it.

My plans are always changing, so who knows exacly what will happen.

4" and 33s was my original plan. Now its at 4" 35s, 4.56s, no lockers lol. Depending on how we do our move back to AK in Sept could leave funds for the ret of my 60/14-bolt build, with long arms actually under it.

The rear under mine now is a 8.25, if your still looking to swap yours after i go to tons, it will find its way on the board.

Found a set of RE 4.5 coils for $85 shipped, I couldnt stop myself so they should be here in a few weeks. I think they might be a bit taller then I want, but we will see how they turn out.

If you end up looking for 1 tons up here I have a 14bolt ff from a 2wd 70's burban camper/tow edition or something or other. Never pulled the cover to see how it looks inside or to check the ratios though.

Hmm... Only problem is I don't get back up there til Oct. I don't know how long you plan on holding in to it or want to keep you from a sale.

It's still sitting under the Burban that's been siting in my mothers back yard sense the early 90's, I don't think it's going any where any time soon.

Other rear spring got swapped in today, from my measurements it's sitting 2.5-2.75" or so of lift in the rear, lol.

If I were to guess, mid-late 70's. I have not looked at it in years, but I will check it out next time I get out that way.

Figured I'd get a picture of the flex the jeeps got, I'm sure it would do better if id disconnect my front sway and had traction.

Swapped my 31/10.5's on. Tested it out in a little mud, does alot better then the a/t's did but still dosnt like going threw holes that my buddys k5 on 33's made when he got stuck. I also managed to destroy that 1 months old ujoint out on that trip. Bought the $30 napa "super strangth" ujoint this time, I guess I'll find out if it last better then the $15 ones from autozone. And my RE 4.5 coils showed up.

finally replaced the front fender that was crunched when I got it. Also did the cut and fold on the front fenders. I sanded it down a threw some primer on it, I'm slowly going to sand down the hole jeep and do some body work before it gets painted. Anyone have a header panel floating around?

Front bumpers off, time to start planning what I'm going to do for a bumper.

Looking good.

I built a bumper out of 3/16" plate, and used 1/4" plate for the mounts and winch plate. Also i used JCR tie ins to get the longer "reach" and tie the bumper into the unibody.

If you still have that 3.73 front end, keep it and look for an explorer rear end with discs. Most came with a factory limited slip, and 3.73s are pretty easy to find. Real easy to swap them Into an XJ too. Just a thought to help with the traction.

I thought you wanted that 3.73 front end back Greg? Iv just been waiting for a phone call back to know when to drop it off.
But heck, if you dont want it I'll have to swing by my buddys and check out his exploders he has and see if theres an 8.8 with 3.73's under it.

IceCold, thats a nice looking bumper!

I'v had my eye on this kit for $200. I just need to find the right 8.8 first. The truss may be over kill for a normal trail rig, but it sure would be cool.

I'll have to stop by and check out the green rig one of these days.

i used an 8.25 driveline. the 8.8, from my understanding, has a longer "snout" like the 8.25. Ran fine for the 2 years it was under my old XJ.
