Mine started to eat the fenders a little with the 33s, and it pushed them in like that. I ran it for almost a year that way till i got my 35s, then i just cut up to the mold line on the fenders.

Went out to see what the iroks would do, snapped the ujoint I just replaced on the front shaft.

Any suggestions on what ujoints I should buy? This one isn't even a month old...

Where did it break? I always put non greasable regular oem spicers back in my axle shafts. Aside from super joints, superior, etc. the non greasables use bigger needles. Better seals. Bigger caps. 6 states is a great place to get them. George and Billy can help ya right out.

edit: the greaseables have hallow centers which make them considerably weaker. I think my oem 1480 spicers in my d60 were like 26.00 ea from 6 states.

If those are the newer shafts that use a 297 joint, the Spicer 5-760x joints will fit and they are the strongest stock type U joint available. 6 States used to carry them and they aren't all that expensive.

http://www.amazon.com/Spicer-5-760X-.../dp/B009X1XDZG

The older shafts use the 260 joint and as far as I know there isn't anything better.

(All this off memory... pretty sure I have the part #s correct, but it's been a while)

I agree on using the non greasables.

It broke the nubs off that go in the outer shaft caps. It was a non-greasable ujoint, but it was just a napa ujoint. I can't remember te brand off the top of my head.

I have a 99' d30 with the larger ujoints, but it has a bent passenger side tube. Guess it's time to pull the shafts and see if they are still straight. I can still spin it without any binding by hand so im guessin they are probably still good. If they are I'll swap those in so I'll have the stronger ujoints.

Yes, use those shafts. They're a lot better.

Or better yet, Put 'em in that 3.73 axle and get working on a matching rear.

That would be a good thing to do! There was a noticeable loss in power going to 33's and still having 3.07's.

Also while crawling around under my jeep I noticed my pass side upper control arm has a nice bend in it. Looks like its time to get some aftermarket uca's!

Finally motivated myself to work on the jeep. I just replaced the ujoint on the shaft to get by for now. Figured I might as well get some wheel'n time.

Have that 3.73 front axle ready for you. Also have a spare uca if you need one.

Hows those tires work mounted backwards?

I didn't noticed they were backwards. Haha. They do pretty good but I drag diffs all over the place! I need more lift and bigger tires.

That's a bit more then I want to spend on axles right now. I did find a d44/9" already setup for a Xj for $500 though.. But I'm to cheap to make up my mind and go buy them. Haha

TJ's are coil rear as well but you could cut the brackets off real easily and put spring perches .

Will do.
I'm planning on getting the RE 4.5" springs and 5.5 coils. Then order up a LA kit next month.

Then of course when I put the new lift on, I'll swap those 3.73's in too.

Then assuming I don't spend to much $ riding this winter, Ill find some time to order up those fiberglass prerunner style fenders and rear flares.

I broke the drivers seat brackets the other night. Driving down the trails with a floppy seat was interesting to say the least.

Lol, Yea. That's a common problem. Just pull the cover and weld it up. I've done quite a few of them.
