Got it on the calendar. Sounds like a good time. Are there many trashed vehicles that are out there right now or have past years cleanups caught up with the majority of the big junk?

The place is not trashed that bad as of last weekend. A few cans & other junk people have thrown out the window but not BIG trash. As the weather warms up & kids are able to drive in easy the trouble & trash will start all over again.

Apparently there was a huge bonfire right in the main access trail. Appliances were burned along with house hold trash. There are a few cars out there as of now. Be carefull if you drive in from the pavillion. There will be nails etc. in the trail.

Always look like less trash when there is snow on the ground. Once melted I'm sure more trash will surface.

But my understanding is the net result is more trash gets hauled out during various cleanups, than get dumped, in a given year. More people are having to go further to gather trash at these cleanups, so its a winning battle.

last year we missed the area around the bridge. a few cars and a ton of trash (probably literally). something to think about this year or is that not part of the clean-up area.

I have it marked down. I'll talk to my boss about letting me use the slide back for vehicle removal.

We are trying to get a Dumpster stationed down by the bridge in addition to the Pavilion area. The Borough says there is no Borough land there to park it on but Dave at DNR is looking at the possability of them placing one there. Worst case we can get passes to the transfer station and run it up in pickups. That area by the bridge does need some help!
You guys should get the truck clubs together or seperately and set up a table at the Pavilion for what you do. And if the person working the table is updated on where the rest of you are working they can direct any reporters we get out there to your location too.
And what we are doing out there is making a difference, last spring we had almost twice as many people working to bring in a little less trash. And we all see the difference in the numbers of cars too. Even the greenies have to admit it! :-)

there should be lots off trucks to drag stuff to where I could get it with the flatbed. if not then I'll have to tow my truck out and use it as a dead car puller

last year we hit that area around the bridge... i actually yanked my bumper off pulling a silt filled tetanus fest of a car out of a sand dune on the opposite side of the bridge... (on the left if you are heading towards knik) we did do some cleanup over there, but that area does need a large amount of attention this year. last year was windy as all hell. really lookin forward to going again this year. its nice to see that dumpster overflowing by the end of the day and all the abandoned vehicles lined up in the parking lot. there was a great turnout last year and i think this year should be simmilar. hopefully the wind isn't so unpleasant this year. and just a suggestion for anyone who has a hand organizing this... designate a cb, and vhf channel for everyone to use to coordinate on.
