Default .308 cal. What would you buy?

Looking to kill the zombies from a distance and using a NATO round, what gun would you pick? AR10, M1A, Saiga, bolt action, or ____?

A good quality FN-FAL ... Springfield Armory SAR48 match would be my first choice... DS Arms rifles are pretty decent from what I've seen.

bought this at the gun show on sunday for 700 bucks:

it is the polytech copy but i have been doing the research and lots have had really good luck with them and most parts are interchangeable with GI parts, and a third of the price of a springfield or GI m-14.

cleaned all the cosmalene out of it (took 4 hours but i know it was never fired) and went out to KGB and hit a ice chunk at 843 yards with three shots with surplus GI english ammo. i thought that was pretty good for the the first ten shots out of the rifle. also picked up two 20 rounders for 25 each from 7.62 precision, and he had alot of them so mags still in good supply.

the guy that had mine had an identical copy and i got his # if you are interested.

My Norinco SKS isnt half bad.

Ive been planning on pick up a Rem 700 in 308 when I get a chance. Figure it could double as a hunting rifle and a zombie slaughterer.

DPMS AR15 w/free float alum handguards, 24" fluted stainless barrell and a nice trigger. Toss a nice optic on top and have fun. Plan on about $1600 for everything though. A nice FN Patrol Bolt Rifle is plenty accurate and a little cheaper

yeah they are chinese but they have a forged reciever where as the springfield is only cast, and come with a crome lined barrel, which helps the barrel last alot longer and is alot more durable and most parts are interchangeable with GI parts.

and good luck finding a better semi 308 for less.

I'm not ruling it out, just mentioning it.

If I could buy it at Walmart (aka Chinamart), that would be even better!

PM me the number when you get home.

I wouldn't mind a Springfield M1A SOCOM, but $2200+ is tough to swallow.

Impact Area down here has them on the shelf. Hard to beat for MOA guaranteed out of the box. Only drawback is they use proprietary mags.

I shot a freinds Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 the other day at the range. No custom work done to it. He's got a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x40 with a BDC reticle on it, and he's got it dialed in (just bought the same scope for my BAR at Wally World for $220). Never touched the gun before in my life and planted two rounds 2.5" apart from 550 yards. 4 different people shot it at that distance, and all of the rounds fit in a dinner plate (with quality ammo, of course). I was impressed! Going rate that I've seen browsing the net is right around $550. A LOT less money than the semi-auto guns, generally more accurate and much simpler. Plus has an adjustable trigger, and only weighs 7.5 lbs. empty and without optics.

For a true medium to long range gun for everything from target plinking, to hunting, to sniping zombies, it's got my vote hands down, dollar for dollar.

Thread hijack.

How do you like the BLR? Is that the takedown model? Why are you selling it?
