Default Junk Removal - Ruby Lake - August 6th, 2005

I am interested in running the Ruby Lake trail on August 6th & 7th. Right now, this is in the planning stages, however, I am interested in removing the car from Cherokee Hill area.

This trail has become a personal favorite of mine, and in the two years I have been running this particular trail, nothing has been done about this car. If someone could volunteer a trailer to haul the vehicle to Butte, they will dispose of it free of charge. The car still has axles under it, and I think it could be towed out on its on wheels. I obviously don't have the rig to do this, so I was hoping to enlist some help. I think it would give us better reputation with the local residents, and shed some positive light on our sport. I know my club will help if possible, is there anyone else?

This is a month away, so if I could get some help, it would be great. Lets step up and do something good for our sport, our state, and our trails

Depending on the timeline it will take to remove the junker, I am thinking of running Ruby afterwards and going all the way...past house rock and far beyond. Camping and returning home the following day.

0745 - 0900 Saturday Morning - Meet @ Kings River Trail Head. I will likely be camping there overnight, so I will already be there. Anyone who wishes to join me on Friday night would be welcome. I will be there about 2000. I will go up and recon the car and see exactly what we need that we may not have.

Thanks Mike, I had forgotten about the steering column. That does change things a bit. I can get ahold of an oxy-acetylene setup which would assist in cutting it up. Perhaps we could get Speedo involved. His rig at the Knik cleanup was AWESOME!

We have a month, so hopefully, we can get this sorted out.

I just completed a letter to the editor of the Ancorage Daily News, in hopes that we can get some positive press coverage for this. We will have to wait and see what happens.

I will be there if it happens. If we get a couple more pickups we can just chop it and put it in the beds.

Default thoughts

couple trailers like that army one that was used to haul trash at the M&G would work really well

Default trailer

The army trailer from M&G is mine. I'll be at work the week this is planned. If the car is removed the week before or after I'ld be happy to bring my trailer. If you are set on this date someone is more than welcome to borrow it. I have a pinnel hitch for a reciever that can go with it. It doesn't have any tailgate (solid back end) yet.

Let me know either way.

Are you located in the valley or in Anchorage? I would be interested in borrowing it if possible. Thanks!

Judging by this letter, I am not sure that the dates can be changed at this point. At least not without egg on his/our faces.

Thats cool fellas, I cannot expect everyone to come along. The biggest problem I see now is methods of cutting it up. I wish I could change these plans, but its really the only weekend I have for this, and I dedicated myself to getting this done.

Count me in for the next one. This is my last big trip of the summer. I should be pretty available afterwards. I'm willing to do trail maint./cleanup anytime.
