Default My 68 Datsun Solex 2000 Roadster

Well, this was my Dad's car, and I may have to sell it before I get to restore it, but it's mine for now.

1968 Datsun 2000 Roadster with all the Solex race goodies on it. It's got 44mm Mikuni Solex sidedraft carbs with Alum velocity stacks, Solex "B" race cam. 8qt comp alum oilpan, close-ratio 5spd, limited slip rear with 5.13 gears. Comp springs and swaybars, panhard bar and rear torque link.

So all together it was a 1800lb car with a 150hp OHC 4cyl, capable of running circles around vettes and mustangs on the track (corners anyway) and a 140mph topend. I've personally had it to 140, front straight at Portland International Raceway...... Then off corner 3, but that is another thing there, not the cars fault

Been in a barn for the last 10 years

What rpm was it at when it went 140 with those 5.13's?

That looks like a super fun project!

All of them!

Redline is up around 8500 and she was dead smooth at 140. Used to downshift off the back straight 5th to 3rd, braking hard at about 90, using the compression braking to yank the back around. surprised we never broke the engine.

Bryan,
I have a neighbor about a block away with one of these in his yard, or was a few years ago, he called it a "Datsun TR6" When you come up for the CJ5 and XJ parts we can go check on it if you like. If I see him betwen now and then, I'll see if he still has it and the status.
