Default 1963 Mercury Comet Convertible

Well my brother decided he wanted another toy so we went to visit a friend and we came back with a 1963 Mercury comet with no rust and only some minor dents. It currently has a 302 thats had a recent rebuild so it will be pulled and well go through it give it a cam and some decent heads. Since we dont have all the trim and tailights we will probably modify it and make it a nice daily driver. It will get disk brakes up front and will be lowered 2 to 3 inches up front and 1 inch in the back.

That interior doesn't look half bad. The outside pic looks a little rough, so I expected to see a weather wrecked inside like so many convertibles end up with.

Got any better pics?

We got it into the garage and started pulling the motor and trans to prepare it for body work. The top moves up and down all the hydraulics associated with it work very well. We are getting rid of the automatic and installing a 4 speed. Also we had a set of 20s sitting around so we threw them on. He wants to drop the front 2-3 inches and the rear were going to tub to allow for some decently wide tires and the door handles will be shaved.

motor is sitting in the garage with the lower assembly completed cleaning up the heads and giving them new valve springs and roller rockers and gasket matching. My brother is also waiting to finish a wiring inspection so we can put the insulation back up and get half of the garage back. We also have to repair my auxillary fuel tank on my duramax and we got another project as well which will see the chopping block first since it only needs a fender hood and grill. So not a great deal of progress but we are stockpiling parts for it to go together.

Well its been a long time since i updated this. We just pulled it out of storage to start working on it again. We finished most of the body work its in primer getting blocked out before it gets painted.

Looking nice! Hard to tell, is that paint sort of an old school metalflake or pearl, or just a solid blue? Are those wheels just rollers or are those the ones staying on there?

Paint has metallic blue in it the rims are rollers for it since my mustang is on jackstands. The drivetrain for the comet is a 302 thats is relatively stock, a c4 auto or a Mrod depending on the shape of the c4 when i tear it apart and the rear end is a 9in with 3.55s the car is going to be a cruiser and thats about it.
