Default Mufflers with cutouts

Any of you rod guys have any expierence with mufflers with the cut outs? The one where you can remove the flange and it's supposed to be strait piped thinking of doing it to my truck, I think I can free up a couple ponies by either haveing a less restrictive muffler or running a strait pipe

Thanks
Mike

yep, had an electric cutout on my camaro. great sound def more top end. if you run a stall converter you wont notice the low end torque loss. if you dont no worries youll launch rpms will be higher than the lost torque rpm band.

Did it to my GN, eliminated the cat with a Y, one end flows normal, the other end has a cap with a gasket, held on by wingnuts you just take off. I still need to make a turndown I can put on that outlet one of these years. Sounds like total sheeeeiiiitt with the turbo 6 so I never use it. I didn't really notice any difference corked or uncorked.

i would have just run cut outs but my exhaust system is fairly short, and even though its a full size truck their sure aint alot of room, its on my 74 gmc, i like my exhaust system, but man i ran it for a day with open headers when i first built it and it was awesome, itd be nice to be louder once in a while

any muffler you recomend? also is anyone running cut outs? just the y style? i need a short set, i dont think i have the room to put a strait through cut out muffler cause the ones i saw were offset/offset and my mufflers are offset/center so i think welding in a set of cut outs will be easier, and is there anywhere in anchorage that sells this kind of stuff or am i stuck mail ordering?
