Steerings in. Brakes bled. Rear ends out. Kerts shackle flip IS NOT bolt in.

The shackle flip given me a hard time. None of the holes on the frame lined up. these shackle flips do not fit 3/4 ton burbs. I'll dril new holes tomorrow. The Burban is lookin good and coming along nicely.

Nice build, making me miss my 90 Burb aka the "hulk", I just cut a hole in my rear hangar and flipped the shackle, then welded in some gussets, worked awesome.

That sucks!

I guess if it were easy everyone would be doing it

I've been thinking about flipping mine like that.
How much of a range of motion did it have?
Did it ever bind?

Its not hard, just time consuming. got liquored up with my pops and progress stopped. Ill drill the new holes tomorrow. this will also improve shackle angle, i might need some small blocks, anyone have any? I sold mine.

Jeremy, of course i remember that rig. Thats the same way that ***** of a CUCV is.

Joe, that black CUCV that Gus owns, tat used to be Aubrey's, that used to be Aarons is flipped that way. Gus says it works Ok. I would if i imagine that its gusseted you could make enough room for it not to bind.

Crazy about the DIY stuff. All mine has always bolted up perfect. But, it's not like GM was perfect in what they did either... Looking good, be careful for drilling new holes right next to existing ones. If you have to, I'd look at filling the old holes or something first. Also, if you have to drill new holes, now is the time to set the perfect shackle angle.

100% my thoughts on the shackle angle. The mount will be slid forward an inch or two because I didn't want half assed biggened holes.

The only reason to flip the factory shackle is if your broke, cheap, or can't fab something better. It does work and it is strong enough even with out bracing but you will never have the range of motion or flexibility in shackle angle that you get with the "kits" Kerts design is by far the best in my opinion , and I've tried all of them.

I made a shackle flip for the crew cab. Took me about 4 hours of labor. Worked good. But this time, it was just as easy to install the kit that came from AKChevelles old k5.
