Sorry joe, been busting butt on getting the bus ready to move. Will get pics soon.

Nasty is giving me fits lately. Check this out.

First-glow plug controller started staying on shorter then quit. So I replaced it.
Second-about the same time you hit the key and nothing. Hit it 2-3 times and it would fire.
Third- new batts went dead. Turned out the starter was pulling a ton of juice. Replaced with another gear drive napa starter.
That brings us to now. So now sometimes u hit the key and no glow plugs. Key off and on 3-9 times and the light comes on. Other times it first time. Hit the key after the light goes out and nothing. Sometimes it will spin over other times just clicks the solenoid. Seems to be worse when warm or if u try to start it a lot. Almost like a broken wire is making connection or not. I've upgraded all the batt wires and grounds with welding cable, added a ground from the engine to the frame. Next I'm going to swap the starter to make sure that's good. Also going to replace the s wire. I've also removed the fuseable links down by the starter to make sure they weren't toast. Also installed a new ignition switch in the column.

The thing that's odd to me is there is 2 seperate issues in the same system.

Anybody?

I hate those godam glow plug relays. Last one I bought was bad out of the box, brand new. Supposedly the only good ones are from AC Delco, but even their quality isn't what it used to be. I had planned on putting a manual relay in when the factory one died.

I don't have any input on the starter, other than I have seen bad brand new starters also. It's getting harder and harder to find quality parts

Well the stepside is history. Surfing CL and found a guy parting out a SWB truck in palmer. Had the bed listed for $100. He said it needed work but wasn't to bad. Turns out all the work that it needed was a couple holes in the bed floor patched and the rhino lining scraped off that some idiot sprayed all over it.

Still need to slide it forward and inch or more and bolt the front down. My son and I went after the coating tonight with some aircraft striper and it works like a charm. Going to get it all off and slap a coat of my signature desert camo tan on it in the next few weeks. Gonna get it presentable for my next duty station. Also swapped the rear axle and wheels and tires to my buddy for a 14b and a set of 33's that are like new. Much better to drive and now I have a spare. Pointing her down the alcan in 40 days!

Going to pick up a set of 16.5 mags and stick a set of hummer Baja ta's on them when I get to cali.

I pulled it for now, I was trying to ship nasty so I was making it as small as possible. Turns out u have to have an ebrake that holds to 1200rpm so I can't ship it anyway. Going to drive her instead.

Spent some quality time at the shop turning my leftover ally into a headache rack that will protect the back window and hold my hids. Also started on an 82 gal ally bed tank. Anywhere local have ally fittings and fill tubes?

The exhaust is stock Y pipe to a 4" pipe with a dynomax 4" diesel muffler that turns out in front of the rear wheels.

She's nearly all one color now. Still need to finish the roof and around the rear window. Maybe someday I'll smooth out the driver side doors and fender but for now I just want it one color.

Ordered my fill neck and 3/8 drain bung from amazon for my fuel tank, need to finish welding up my headache rack and get it painted so I can install it. It's amazing how much difference it makes once installed.

I would have suggested a boat fab shop or welding shop for the fittings.

The step side kind of grew on me, I don't recall ever seeing a CCSS. When I worked in Saudi, standard cab 73-87 LWB SS Chevies were very common, every one of them were red!

Good luck on your trip!

You used the y pipe that was on it when you bought it? It wasn't stock, it is/was a banks y pipe and muffler. Do you still have that muffler and any excess pipe? I need to change up the exhaust on my CCSB.
