Default Press Brake

I originally posted this in a thread on FB, thought there may be some interest.

My press brake is 5 pieces of steel, one piece of 1/2" plate 12"x 7", 2 pieces of 3"x 1/4" angle iron 12" long, one piece of 2" solid square steel 12 " long and 1 piece of 1/2" steel pipe. The 2 pieces of angle iron are laid parallel on the plate 1/8" apart and welded to the plate. I drilled holes in the plate for rosette welds welding the angle to the plate from the bottom. This formed the base. Now, place the solid square stock on the base, resting between the 2 pieces of angle,( think V on M) The pipe is V'd on one end and welded to the middle of the square solid stock in a vertical position, The pipe is placed under the ram in a hydraulic press. Paint to match the decor of your shop, in my case, mud. If you make "boxes" you will need shorter pieces of the 2" square stock. I have about 6 feet of it. If you like bends with a radius instead of a sharp corner, I suppose a piece of thick wall square tubing could be substituted for the square stock. Good luck!.

I imagine your camera to be along the lines of this unit.

Well, is that picture finished exposing yet?

How's it work? I was about to make something like this for my little 20-ton the other day, but I ended up beating it over in a vise. What can you bend?

IV bent some 5/16's tabs on mine. I forgot all about shacks and a couple months ago saw some pictures online and decided to make one out of what I had around the house. It works ok but I'd like to make some changes. But the shop I work at now has a lt of different style brakes so I'll only be using mine when I forget to do something at work.

Busted by suby! I have no excuses, I took 7 pictures today but for the life of me can't figure out how to post them. The fact that my computer has the flu isn't helping.

1) gotta get them online, since you can't attach here. Photobucket/Supermotors/etc free pic hosting.
2) find the direct image address. Www.myuglyjunk.jpg. The ending in .jpg is important. 'Copy' that address. If you've got it right, you can 'paste' it into a new browser window and see only your pic.
3) click the little Mountains icon in the new post window and 'paste' your address in the popup.
4) do a 'preview' before you post to make sure it worked.

Suby, I tried to get the pix into a photobucket account tonight, got five loaded and started writing subtitles, ZOT all gone! I suspect it is me and my computer, it seems to collect malware, and any virus that has a bad effect on my laptop. This has been an ongoing problem I've spent several hundred $ trying to get it fixed. I bought a new HP laptop that had Windows 8 loaded on it, I got so frustrated with it I beat it to pieces, I'm embarassed to admit. I have yet to find any kind of firewall or whatever that will keep a computer from being infected. I'll keep trying, sorry.

I suspect it's photobucket. They suck now, since they're trying to turn into Facebook, with Stories, Groups, Friends, and such. Uploading there is always a 10-step process, with the pics getting stuck in some weird sub-folder. They're probably there, just not where you think.

A few security things you might try:

Online scan-
http://www.pandasecurity.com/activescan/index/

Heavy duty cleaner (despite the warnings, you can just run it as a one time fix-it program)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/

Free virus protection-
https://www.avast.com/home

Ghostery and AdBlockPlus are worthwhile ad-ons to Firefox, also.

Oh, and- Macs just work. I wish I'd coughed up for a MacBook rather than the POS Lenovo I bought for half the price.
