Default Float a car

Hi, I've seen this picture:

Does anyone have more info about this or built something similar?

Thanks, Seb

You can a search for USCG photos, there was a Cuban that built 2, the first I think was a Cady maybe and the second was a truck. It appeared to be rather well built, with a prop on the drive shaft.

Land rovers leak too much oil to be amphibious.

It's not for a landy, so oil leakage isn't a problem, and my application would be for crossing rivers too deep to be driven accross, so the engine would be stalled and the car hauled from one bank to another.

Cheers, Seb

I was referring to the vehicle in the picture.

Where are those videos of the guys crossing the arctic in vehicles? They had some kind of tow behind pontoon boat that they used and it looked like it worked pretty well.

To me it looks like more trouble than it's worth unless there is a really good reason to get across such a large body of water.

I've daydreamed about something like that for crossing rivers - but most the Alaska rivers deep enough to float are SCARY. Imagine rolling into the Talkeetna? Think you'd get to the other side in less than a mile downstream? "shudder"

what amazed me about that cape to cape Rover is they actually DID cross the Bering Straight in it. They had EXTREMELY good weather but wow! They got on the beach in Nome. They seem to have stalled out there - flew home, and no more updates but an amazing achievement regardless.

Ya know, I was toying with this idea for my jeep when I first starting building my rig- cody can vouch for me
My idea was to use the exhaust inflatable lift bags and mount an impeller from a skidoo. I still think it would work reliably but would be a helluva fab-job.

Maybe I'll save the drawings for my next jeep build.
