Default my six door truck

so i guess this is as good a spot as any, because it is a fairly unusual project. I have been working on this in my spare time for seven months or so. 1993 front half of cab, 1994 back half, 7.3 idi factory turbo kit, manual transmission, one ton axles with 3.54 gears. currently making a seven foot square dumping aluminum flat bed.

Saw that at Best Buy. Are you using the yellow diesel container for a temp fuel tank?

I saw it strapped on there and was wondering if ford diesel tanks were pressurized.

Hope you do something to help with teh turning radius! The long framed Fords I have driven (3+3 cab) it was almost as bad as driving a 40 pax school bus. Real interesting to run a snowplow on one

The frame is unmodified. I was toying with the Idea of extending it, but then I would have had to make it four wheel steering to keep it useable as a daily driver and I didn't care to get that intensive right now.

Are you going to move the rear axle then? I would expect it won't carry weight well with that dump bed since it most of it will be hanging off the back of the truck vs over the axle.

I expect the most common use of the dump bed to be trash run's and hauling atvs, only dirt once in a blue moon, so I'm not too worried about the balance of weight.

Cool truck, and even cooler license plate. Im not a Ford guy, but I like it. Have any close ups of where you stitched it back together? That is quite a bit of work Im sure. I knew a guy that did an ext cab on the back of a crew, but this is cooler. 9 person people mover... lol.

Reminds me of two 8 or 10 door 57 Chevies I saw in Florida 40 years ago. One wagon, one sedan. The owner referred to them as "airport limousines" I don't know if that is the factory designation or not. Novel idea. Trailer Craft in Anchorage has a super size Chevy version, loks like it is on rollogon tires. Looks like you have a great start on a unique project, please keep us posted. Good luck

I cut the front off one crew cab, and the back off another and butt welded them together, then put a bit of strapping across the top and lap welded it on. I will get some pics tomorrow. I like the plate too, got it when he won the democratic convention. hopefully I can move on to a new plate pretty soon when he gets beat in the elections.

Shack,
Those airport limos we customized by coach companies. They built rigs for air ports, the government, and railroads. They also build crew cabs in the 50's and 60's
There is a company in Oklahoma that still builds custom fords. http://www.customautosbytim.com/

Nice work Turk!!
I have a pic saved of someone doing something similar using a mid 80's Burb and the back of a truck cab.

BTW, Dunno if you remember me, I bought a maroon pick-up topper from you back in 2006-2007 before we moved out of state. We lived on Tina st right over by you.
