I should have the time to replace the skis on my Z440 this time home and hopefully will be taking delivery on my new (to me) Summit 600. It'll be nice to have some winter fun this year.

Yup. I think I've decided to just sell the 1000, and ride the m7 again this winter. I need to do a tunnel mod and update the rear with the 09-11 tapered tunnel.

Without a doubt.

This'll be the first time I have been on a sled in about 15-18 years (or more....)

I picked up a 2005 IQ 440RR with a 600 swap for this year, but with my work schedule, I don't think I'll really be able to ride it at all this year. Might throw it up for sale...

I hear mixed opinions on this. A lot of older guys say to break it in exactly the way you plan to use it. I ran my t-cat 1000 mod pretty hard after a full rebuild with no issues. Skis pointed toward the sky up the mountain and it never complained. I know sled companies say to break then in easy when you buy a new sled, so who knows.

What pistons did you use? I know that Wisco pistons require a warm up evey time you run the sled or the results can be rough.

What did the people you got the motor from say to do? Should probably do what they say.

But I'm guessing 25% throttle then half throttle then your good to go after like 500 miles or so.

500 miles? That's a lot of miles for a break in. I don't think I could handle that. No pills, no bottle, just balls and throttle. I agree that you should do what the builder of the motor says. Might also be worth a call to team cc or amds

The last new motor I installed was on my PRO X 440 and as soon as I got it running I burn'd out of the garage bounced around the neighborhood on redline a few times than came back for my helmet and gloves than went out hard all night. I had that motor pretty much pinned full time keeping up with all my buddies on big boy sleds. Had perfect compression and started first bumb and was as crisp and snappy as it was new when I sold it 2 years later. But I'm alot more mature now than I used to be... sometimes...

I should have it running tonight. I'll ask Team CC what they suggest when I buy New Spark Plugs and fluids.

I don't suppose anybody in the Valley has a Clutch Puller I could borrow?

Motor swap in the 800HO Ski-Doo is done... but I've got a few bugs to figure out.. the gauges light up but the needles don't work. The tack comes up to zero and stays there. The speedo flutters at 5 and less. I ran it on a Track Stand and it rips! I cant wait for snow..
But also the charge light, oil light and coolant lights are on. I got back in there and checked every connection tight and fluids full...
The 2 fuses are good, every plug tight... any ideas?

Found out my machine is an odd 96 not a 95 like I had thought.. Build tag says August 95 so they say it's a 96.. According to Team CC in Eagle River it has the wrong steering shaft for the year it is.. Weird, since I've known the machine since it was brand new and it's never had anything fixed or replaced on it exept for what I just had fixed.

Got it all tuned up and fixed. Got some new SKies of an 02 Ski-Doo Rev. Gotta get some new hardware to mount them.

Decided to put a set of 6" bars on it I was given, instead of trying to locate a riser that will work. busted up one of the heated grip pads anyways. I need to find some brake and throttle line extentions. Bars are a bit higher then I wanted for Mostly Trail riding. I wanted a 3 or 4". But I'll give them a shot.

Yeah.. The tether is on tight... it's worn and beeps and cuts out all the time but its on. It also seems to loose volts and die at idol. The headlight dims real bad and all the gauge lights come on than it sputters out and dies. It doesn't have E-Start/Battery. Whats the best way to test the stator?

Sounds like the security tether is acting up to me. Theyre chipped to the sled, and if its not reading the chip right, itll run but shut off before you can move it.

I just finished my 04 800 HO last week, motor wise that is. Your first tank of fuel you will want to run with pre-mix on top of the oil injection for break in, I did 50:1.

Also check your security tether. It will start with any tether in place, but you will not be able to rev it up, it will beep and all the warning lights will be on.

If you want to test the stator, at the plug do a ground test from each of the three wires to the block, this should be closed with no resistance. Next ohm out between each of the 3 combinations of wire on the plug, ie: yl/yl, yl/gn, gn/yl. I'll have to look at my PDF when I get home to find the value, I think it was around .5

Any luck?

Pinching pennies to pay my house off right now. Hoping to have the tunnel mod parts by next week or the M. Going to do the 09+ tunnel mod. Someone attempted to start it on the sled when I bought it and did a hack job. They used the longer 09+ bumper but they cut it so short that the bumper acted as a lever to rip the rear section of the tunnel in half. I need a new 05-08 rear tunnel section and a 09+ bumper. They look pretty sweet when it's all cleaned up. And it get the rear of the sled out of the snow by several inches. Might not sound like much but it sometimes makes the difference when pulling a hard line trough the trees.

Here's the old tunnel mod hack job:

Also bought a new 153" powder claw track. Haven't decided if I'm going to use it yet, my flipped and straightened AT-20 rips on the hill. The track got a bad name when left stock, a flipped and straightened AT-20 works really well.

I took it to Team CC Ski-Doo and had one of their Mechanics look at it in the back of my truck real fast at the RAV hose routing because I have a blank hose nipple on the RAV Vacuum Controller valve thing on top of the Throttle Bodies. The 2 RAV hoses T off around the spark plugs and the single hose goes into the front of that valve. Left side of that valve goes down to the Crankcase. Electrical plug goes to the right of that valve. but... Ther's another nipple next to the electrical plug on the right side. He didn't have any idea if that was a vent or a hose should plug onto it. I cut a 15" trench in my gravel driveway moving it in the garage from my truck, warmed it up a few times on the track stand and it RIPS! pretty much like it should on the stand. The Tach and Speedo are still duds. The lights come on but the needles dont move. The mechanic said it probably needs new ones. I'm also workin on a 600 2 years older with out the vacuum type RAV's so It didn't do me any good lookin at that one but I'm gonna swap the guages out tonight and see where the problem ends up.

The owner said they were both 03's and I never thought about it till the RAV Vacuum issue. 03's didn't have that. The 800's an 05, the 600's an 03.

Her's the story of what happened last winter
