The Guardian is a great flick. I'm sure some of you will complain that Kelso got the leading role but I really like that movie. I have it on DVD but it came to mind because it was on TV yesterday. Oh and I don't know how I forgot to mention since it's basically a movie legend for anyone who likes guns but Blackhawk down kicks a$$.

"Shooter" with Marky Mark is definietly worth watching. I rented it again yesterday along with "Wanted" but I haven't watched that one yet.

I have heard that a remake of "Red Dawn" is in the works. Supposed to be more in tune with a post 9-11 world though.

Hopefully it will live up to the original version.

If they do remake Red Dawn they should do it before Swayze gets worse from the cancer so he can play one of the father figures. It's only right that he gets a part in the second one.

If they remake Red Dawn, I hope it doesn't suck. It would be difficult to put together an up-and-coming cast as strong as was in the first movie. That movie was loaded with talent.

Predator or Aliens. (sci-fi, I know)
Equilibrium was a cool movie btw if you're into sci-fi. Wanted was some real crap.

Not a movie but a great series of books that you wont be able to put down.
Some of the best accurate historical fiction out there;

Terry C. Johnstons;
Mountain Man Series

Titus Bass Prequel

Dance on the Wind - Young Titus Bass runs away from his Kentucky frontier home, joining riverboatmen to learn about whisky and women, and eventually on to St. Louis from where he will ride west for the Rocky Mountains.

Buffalo Palace - Crossing the magnificent kingdom of the buffalo, Bass reaches the Shining Mountains where he meets veteran trappers Bud, Billy, and Silas, is scalped, then meets up with Mad Jack Hatcher during his first four trapping seasons in the high country.

Crack in the Sky - From fighting Blackfeet to battling Comanche raiders in the mountains above Taos, from a death march through Apache country with new partner Asa McAfferty, to taking revenge on his Arapaho scalper, Scratch roams through his last four seasons that bring him to the moment Carry the Wind begins.

Original Trilogy

Carry the Wind - Titus Bass takes young Josiah Paddock under his wing on their way to the dramatic 1832 rendezvous in Pierre’s Hole and their battle with the Blackfeet, as well as his reunion with old friend Asa McAfferty who will lead them north to a tragic duel in Crow country.

BorderLords - After a heartbreaking disagreement splits the partners, Scratch makes a romantic crossing to Fort Vancouver on the Columbia, then returns to the Rockies for a reunion with Josiah before riding into the rendezvous of 1833 where they encounter three assassins hired to take Paddock’s head.

One-Eyed Dream - Making their fall hunt in the Bayou Salade, Scratch and Josiah battle vengeful Arapaho in their journey south to Taos with their wives, where they run onto Scratch’s old friend, prompting a mid-winter odyssey back to St. Louis so both trappers can put some old ghosts to rest before Titus confronts his most vicious enemy at Bents’ new fort on the Arkansas.

Titus Bass Sequel

Ride the Moon Down - As the big fur companies strangle the beaver trade and the mountain rendezvous lurches through its death throes -- far to the north the Blackfeet are dying in great numbers of the smallpox their warriors carry into the heart of Crow country, riding back out with Scratch’s wife and child, prompting a fateful showdown high in the mountains before Bass is brought to the summer of 1840, and that final, sad summer gathering of trappers and traders.

Death Rattle -

Wind Walker -

Did someone edit my thread title? I don't remember putting the "books" in there. Not that it matters, just want to know if I'm losing my mind lol.

I went to rent a movie tonight and couldn't find anything good so I got "Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia." I expected it to be a low budget sequel but jeez... it sucked to say the least. If I tried to list all the things wrong with movie I'd wear out my keyboard. I really liked Behind Enemy Lines but both the sequals were garbage. I expect them to be kinda unrealistic just to be entertaining but it was cheesy as hell. Is it really too hard to hire a special forces advisor or just find some ex-infantry guy to give you tips. In one of the shooting scenes the SEAL was engaging people with the lense cap still on his aimpoint WTF lol

I heard Max Payne sucked too, anyone seen that yet?

No I could care less, I was just curious whether I really typed that or if I was

I saw this book being talked about on ARFCOM. It tells the story of our country's downfall though a couple citizens eyes who are still living it. They discuss how things went bad, how the Government slowly made changes to things like gun rights and the economy bailout until they went so far as to suggest that a new constitution was needed to bring the country out of the depression it had created. The country then split into sections.

The book comes out in March. Here's the link, it has a section of text taken from the middle of the book that you can read. It probably took me about 30 minutes to read (I read slow) but it kept my attention. It has a slightly racist undertone, just because the bad guys are mostly black refugees who are taking and killing as they flee the urban areas, but the story is good if you look past that.

One of the most amazing books I've read about survival is The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosinski. Seriously, if you haven't read this book, it's a must. If you have a week stomach, or are sensitive on just about ony topic you can think of, beware. This book is brutal, and shows never to give up when life depends on it.

Monarch Of Dead Mans Bay is an awesome book about a Kodiak brown bears life. An easy read, and awesome details.

Also, i just read a book called The Trap. It is out in a village in Alaska. It's about this old man that gets stuck in one of his snare traps. Another short and easy read, not as good as Monarch though..

(Sorry Gazer, had to post up some books.)

I just read a good book. "Indian Creek Chronicles" by Pete Fromm. It's about a college kid (the good kind), who spends a 7 month winter in the mountains of Idaho/Montana taking care of a salmon hatch. A great read. Pretty short too, for those of you with short attention spans. I read it in one sitting at work. A great book.
