comes with 12 different meals per case
case A menu and case B 24, for different meals in total
inspection date of 09/10
As far as the expiration date?????? Depends on what website you look at. Everywhere from 6yrs to 12yrs depending on how you store them?

I'd say they are pretty much brand new! Was in Korea around 2003-4 and they were giving us ones that had M&M with ads for the 92 Olympics on it.

That website says that chart is based on how the taste is. I mean if you really need to eat MREs does it matter on the taste? Let's see... cooking up a strew in a rusty pail with muddy water, twigs and some bugs or a 1/2 way decent MRE?

MRE's do have an exp. date....... Granted it's only for select parts of it.... AKA the cheese, some of the meats, the fruits, stuff like that...... But they do expire after a while.... Granted it takes like 10+ years from the manufacture date till they get to the point that you can get sick off eating them..... lol So good to go with these for a long time! LOL

In addition the individual cases should be computer stamped with a packing date and an inspection date if they are the brown military cases.

It taste's pretty good and like Nate said, if you are reduced to eating this way, who cares about taste....to a point.

MRE's have their place in a survival food plan. Not as a daily mainstay of your diet, but a couple cases that are good for quite some time are handy to have for situations that could come about... like if you're crammed for time. Stuff it down your neck and get going... same if you're moving on foot, you don't have to stop for long to cram it down your neck.

They are good for alot of things. Like:
Road trips- never know about breaking down, stuck in the ditch, or avalanche
Hunting- might get lost or hurt
Wheeling- stuck at Jim Creek till the wee hours of the night
Snow machine- never know
Cabin- too lazy to cook
Fishing
Hiking
Natural disaster
Zombies- just saying
Good for alot of things. How many of us couldn't wait to get to town and eat McNasty's? Do you really think that McBurger was really worth the wait?

if the number is 281 then that would be 2002 and the 81st day of that year.

I was eating MRE's in 1993 and they were old then...hahaha

For sure MRE's have a place for survival food. No doubt, you guys covered many of the situations they do play well into.

But for long term food in a Bug In situation you can hardly beat those tubs from Costco. I am "thinking" they were developed for the Mormon contingent of Costco, can any of our Mormon members confirm or deny that?
