Default keys made???

ok so i just came across a 92 ford ranger but the person i got it from doesnt have a key (no its not stollen) and i was wondering what it would take to get a new key made, how much it would cost or anyway to by pass it?

any advice would be helpfull

take the vin to the dealer would be the easiest. besides that i would think that to have any key made you would need to take out the tumbler for the lock smith to look at to even see if they could (not sure on this but its what i am thinking). at that point just buy a new tumbler and change it out.

yeah on my friends 91' f150 we just baught a new egnition for it but you need to have a key and you put a pin in a little hole to get it out.....on this one i cant seem to find that hole and without a key how would i get it out???

Dealer should be able to set you up.

Lost the only key I had for my Jeep a couple winters ago and I was able to have one cut at Anchorage Dodge for $5. All I needed to show was the registration with my name on it.

Nate i believe your correct. I bought a 89 ranger from an auction and it had no key. took the bill of sale and the title in my name to the dealer and they cut a key. the only thing that would cause you problems would be if the person who owned it before you had the ignition changed for any reason. or you can call a locksmith and have and ignition and door keys made for you but that is a little more expensive.

We(work) used to get all new locks and an ign. from the dealer with keys. I think it was about $30
