Default 69 International Tavelite

OK so my buddy got the 69' International off of the classifieds the other day. I am going to give him a hand building it when I am finished with the Zuk.

Heres what we are starting with-

Its a decent setup even without the cool factor.

heres the hardware rundown- 345 v-8 , 4 speed tranny with granny low, divorced NP205, D44 (closed knuckle)front, D60 rear. 4.10 gears (I think)

We are thinking of a mild lift, a little sheetmetal trimming and 37/38" tires. Disc brake conversion for the 44, 4BBl setup for the motor. We'll probably bob the bed a foot or so, and move the axle forward that same distance.

It needs new exhaust, all bunch of new gaskets, all new fluids, a front bumper, and we can't forget some body filler, and a sweet Urban camo paintjob.

Yep, those are filler spouts in the fenders. Its missing one fuel tank, but hopefully we can find a new mone and fill it with beer

Here is a crappy rendition of what myself and Jim Beam think it should look like in a couple months-

Hope fully the hood is closed, and those 37s are throwing Snud (Snow and Mud)

Its probably not an NP205. I think its the NP202. It has bigger idler gears, is heavier, and the output shafts are coarse splined.

Cool, we had one of those when I was growing up, it was a beast. It was our wood hauling/dump running truck. Same four doors, in a dark green color, with a flatbed too (Intl beds rot off fast). We had ours lifted with some huge Armstrong Norseman tires, I don't know what size they were, 36" or so I think. That truck would go anywhere, I don't recall ever getting stuck on our 5 acres of land, and some of it was pretty nasty boggy pond front.

I like it!

the photo chop is ok too. but when you go to trim the fenders give someone a call thats not the straightest line I've seen and fender scallops might shred a tire.....

ok seriously if you need anything from the machine shop let me know

We are going to try and build up some custom leaf packs to get around 3" more suspension, and some better flex/ride. Trim up the fenders a little, and no they wont be scalloped

anyone know where to get performance parts for the 345??

This is a good place for seeking knowledge on IH. IHONLY seems to be the prefered place for parts on the BB board.

Sweet, love IH. You can easily clear 36's with just a re-arched spring pack. You don't want it though, I'll haul it away for you LOL.

T-case could be either, 70's had the 205 but 69 could have either. If it's a 205 get some 1350 joints in the short shaft or you'll be blowing them up, trust me.

Re-enforce the t-case crossmember, DO NOT run Poly for the bellhousing motor mounts! Put some safety chains on the motor, both sides either way.

Cams, my info is 6 years old but I'll dig it up, there are 3-4 out there.

Headers, stans are great with NO problem in 7 years.

Port the heads if you ever open it up or bring them by, I've done a few.

DO NOT try to spin it, 4K rev period.

4 barrell manifolds are availiable factory on 392's and very few 345's, no aftermarket. Square and a few spread bores out there.

They like a holley projection, holley 600 vacuum seconday, or an edelbrock but you have to creatively tune it. I'll fill you in when you choose.

Tranny, is reverse up or down? up=t-18 and can be 4 or 6 to 1 ratios, sadly the 4:1 is more common, down=t-19, newer and more common 6:1. There are 5-speeds out there too but they are 1.5-2.5 ton units, love IH.

Front axle: A chevy 60 **** near bolts in. If you keep the push pull there is a tie rod you can use to adapt the chevy part to fit the IH arm.

Do not use factory mounting for a good front bumper, rebuid and re-inforce. You'll destroy that front crossmember and sometimes teh front spring mount.

If you have any questions I'll gladly help you out. Later

Its still sitting in my driveway waiting for the owner to get off his ***. Its occupying two of my jackstands since he has not finished the hard lines for the front brakes.

maybe he'll sell it soon. I'd like to have it but the Zuk does not get enough attention as it is.

I'm not sure he has given up just yet, but its cold, and my Sammy has dibs on the garage. The owner is not exactly a mechanic of any sorts (I'm not exactly an ASE certified wrencher either) but he wants to learn and I'll try to get him movin' in the right direction.

Really he just wants to re-arc the springs, add some 38ish mudders and new shocks, then get wheelin'

I'd like to see a GM D60 swap up front, re-arched springs or GM 52" Spring conversion (with 6" lift springs) a bobbed flatbed for departure angle, and some minor engine mods/cleanup. After that I say wheel the beast, its an old tough farm implement

Well the owner picked up some 35" TSLs on wheel and it seems like he is ready to get working. Call me a Pu$$y but its cold out side, and don't get me wrong I'll freeze my *** off for the Zuk, but its gonna take some Steel reserve to coax me out into the frigid air.

Hopefully we can at least get it moving in the next couple of weeks. I might have to steal his TSLs for my cummins.
