Default Anybody been caribou hunting on Adak?

I'm going with my brother-in-law over the new year weekend for a week. Has anybody been hunting out there? If so, what should I expect? (I have been to Unalaska in February, and got stuck for a four days, so I'm familiar with the potential weather.)
With a shorter middle finger, I have less to say to Brentt now.

If you haven't left already, Denali highway is your best bet. Assuming you are talking about the Nelchina heard: The caribou mass has already moved north and is spread throughout the northern eureka area, the lake louise basin, Northern Talkeetna, and the Denali highway stretch. Hunting right off the highway isnt a bad gig, but the big ones don't hang around roads ad highways. I would suggest the landmark gap area or sweed lakes. Later in the year most of the heard winters around paxson and the Denali highway.

Hunting between Kotzebue and Noatak is great right now.

We carry guns here, act accordingly.
when in doubt, part it out.

Yes, went in September 2009. We rented a pickup to get us into the hills and did a lot of glassing from the truck. Saw five caribou in a week and killed three of them.

We were told by all the locals that in the winter the animals move close to the town and are easier to hunt. As far as the walking goes, keep an eye on the ground in front of you. Lots of pits and holes (fighting positions) all over the place, some of which were a couple yards deep.

The place is very, very hilly and exposed. No breaks from the wind and weather, other than the numerous bunkers.
