it's been out since 2001 and is a 3.3 MP point & shoot if it is the original Dimage 5 , there is a Dimage 5Z which is an updated version of it . either way 300 is way too high for that . Save your money and get a better point & shoot if that is what you want. I personally dont like Konica/Minolta point & shoots at all , goofy interface etc. Plus you can get alot more camera out there for cheaper or even the same money and not have unkown amounts of use/abuse on them . Unlike digital SLR cameras the point 7 shoot world rarely has a counter in them to tell how many times the shutter has been actuated

I will only trust my cash to 3 brands of point & shoot . Fuji , SOny , Canon .. .that is about it I researched those for my wife when she wanted one . I still carry one in my pocket just in case

These new SDs are cool. I bought the older version for my wife and it works great.

This one too.

In all honesty, I really want this camera but it's beyond the scope of this thread.

Do you mean you want to take shots in rapid succession? If so a point and shoot won't do that, you will have to save your money for an DSLR.

Sounds like you already got a camera now, but I'll add my 2 pennies anyhoo. The Fuji S7000z will let you burst 5 shots in 1.3 seconds. I have one I got a few years ago and it's a great camera for the price. Not an SLR, but still a higher end unit, Fuji's top of the line consumer non SLR back in '04. 6.3 mp and quite a bit of features, a lot more than a point and shoot. Tons of manual control, which can take some learning. Still a good camera even nowadays.

I know its not the fastest, but my canon p&s fires off 10 shots in 7.3 seconds. Faster if you put a better card in there. Plus I have all the settings to highest. I know DSLR is faster but this one has been plenty fast to me.

Even the DSLRS don't really compare with the film cameras yet. They are getting close though, that new MKIII I posted above can shoot 10 fps.

If you want a high frame rate 12megapixel cam, you should look at one of theaase.... not even SLR
