Anyone know what year Subaru stopped putting low range in their cars? Whats the newest model with FWD/AWD HI/LOW Range regardless of engine size or turbo no turbo.

ah well i have all the answers you could need.

they stopped putting dual ranges in at 1990 when they switched from GL/DL/RX to the Loyale

So the newest would be 1989.

the 85-86 turbo cars could have come with a dual range.

86-89 RX came with a full time awd dual range box with diff lock and a factory rear LSD.

I actually just sold an 89 wagon dual range with spfi and no rust.

If you need any help with that generation of subie let me know.

Now across the pond you could get dual ranges for many years after that in legacys and foresters. i think you may even be able to still get them.

4 lug nut Subarus! They have the Dual Range, 1.59 low range. Either a 3.7 or 3.9 diff. The Rally style XT has a 1.2 low, "Rally gear". Up to 89 have low, very few 90's "left overs". Also very easy to Twin Stick them. Two shift rods connect to the handle. The front rod is Low/Hi, the rear rod turns the rear output on/off. AWD was on the 5 Lug nut Subarus, 90' legacy and newer.

That 4lug generation is called the EA series, Engine America. The 5 lug newer is called the EJ, Engine Japan. The Fuel Injected 87 to 90 have the stronger/better trannys. Adapters to bolt the EA 5speed Dual Range to the newer and better EJ engine/car is cheep.

This was mine I built up.

Thats what i want to build but in a wagon or 4 door sedan. You should knock on his door and see if its for sale? Or just the tracks.
