"When the engine is running the MAP sensor value is continually updated near WOT. A skewed MAP sensor will cause the calculated MAF value to be inaccurate. The value shown for the MAP sensor display varies with the altitude. With the ignition ON and the engine OFF, 103 kPa is the approximate value near sea level. This value will decrease by approximately 3 kPa for every 305 meters (1,000 feet) of altitude. A high resistance on the ground circuit of the MAP sensor can cause this DTC to set. Any loss of vacuum to the MAP sensor can cause this DTC to set."

so after a long evening of checking and rechecking, that link you posted was the key to figuring it out, we were also getting a p0300 pending when it would get really bad under load, the check engine light flashing

"A wide open throttle (WOT) acceleration from a stop should cause the MAF sensor g/s display on the scan tool to increase rapidly. This increase should be from 6-12 g/s at idle to 230 g/s or more at the time of the 1-2 shift. If the increase is not observed, inspect for a restriction in the induction system or the exhaust system."

we were only getting about 115 g/s (caculated from lb/min) we started with about 113 at wot and about 4500rpm, came back to the house, still getting p0101, running like crap and no power, got some advise from a fsmily member who owns a shop, pulled the up stream o2 sensors, scanned again, got it up to 219 g/s with the o2 sensors out, no p0101, just the ones for the removed o2 sensors, so long story short, catalytic converter(s) are plugged, we didnt bother trying to figure out which one as the cats come in the Y pipe assembly

just a fyi i guess, i always hate when people dont finish problems in thei posts
