Default 1929 Mercedes Steet Rod

I figured I would start a build up.. just for ****s and giggles. My grandpa had a 29' Mercedes kit car sitting in his garage for the past like 30 years and ive always wanted to build it. So now I am but it will be a slow process being as I don't have alot of free time. I won't be following the instructions much as they are 30 years and I don't want to use Pinto parts which is what they call for....

Specs:
Mustang 2 front suspension
Granada rotors and chevy calipers
Flaming River manual Rack and pinion
All Poly Bushings

Drive train:
Chevy 350 (to be rebuilt once mock up is done)
TH350 (Hansens)
Ford 8.8" Axle W/ Discs and 3.73
Leaf Sprung rear (for now)
16" Dayton wire wheels (Real ones, GPA wants to keep it retro looking)

Misc:
Frame was made of like 1/16 2x4 Tubing so I bought some 3/16" tubing to replace it with..

Body has a bit of damage here and there so I guess I will be learning to fiberglass or finding a good fiberglass guy... especially since the fenders will have to be widened to fit our tires....

Leather interior, Leather convertable top. (included in kit)

Color is being argued all the time by me and my GPA but it is his car so it might be cream and brown...

Im sure im forgetting stuff but I will update as I go.. Like I said this will be a long project (2-3 years..)

Neat project! So that's the new frame in the second pic down? Looks pretty stout.

Nope thats the original frame... I am just going to replace the main frame rails with 2x4 3/16 tubing... and I'm adding a engine crossmember and a tranny crossmember for more strength...

This thing is back in the garage. We decided to start from scratch on the new frame. The original wasnt going to hold up. Rear axle mock up, will be next.

Got some more work done on the new frame. The rear axle is about ready for mock up.

Anchak,
Very nice work. I had a 427 Cobra kit car many years ago. Don't let the fiberglass discourage you, just think of it as a big model, widening the fenders is a reletively simple matter, I rebuilt several wrecked "vettes in another life. If you have any questions LMK, Shack

Thanks... I got sidetracked (As usual) with my cousins snowmachine project, DD maintainence and being extra busy at work. I just set the body back on the new frame last night to start mocking up the rearend and drivetrain.
