Default Kiska!

This is a bit off the reservation since it's not really a 4x4 trip report, but in terms of getting out there and off the beaten path, it's up there.

I was fortunate enough to get several hours to hike around the island of Kiska this summer and figured I'd post a few photos.

Awesome Pictures, Thanks for sharing. My wife and I named our dog after Kiska Island.

What a neat opportunity! I have never seen any pictures of Kiska. I had no idea there was a sub sitting on shore.

Yep, Japanese mini sub. You can't tell in the pictures, but its sitting in a constructed concrete shipway on a rolling cradle. I'm assuming originally, there was a camouflage cover over it that's just wasted away or was destroyed.

I am a history buff, so your pix are very interesting. This is an aspect of WWII that many know nothing about. A book "The Thousand Mile War" sheds a lot of light on the war in the Aleutions. Thx.

That's a long ways above sea level for a sub, that driver must have been really drunk.
