I would be that determined if my rig was built like that.
Another take on that is to compare that trail to our trails. That thing has seen abuse for years and years; look at how deep the trail has cut into the gound. Do you think there are enviro groups trying to close down that area like they're trying to do here? I can nearly guarantee that if we posted a video like that, it would be used against us.

At first glance, and looking at the other vids they posted, it looks to me like it may be an old coal (strip) mine site. If so, it is probably private property and may be run as an OHV park. Along with that, if it is in fact an old strip mine, it's pretty tough for the off roaders to actually hurt it.

Remember there is very little off roading on undesignated public land in the '48. So it is not a safe to assume that is the case in these videos. Especially with the number of people that can be seen in attendance in some of the shots. This is not just a couple of yahoos out tearing things up.

If I'm correct about the nature of the site, there is no reason for them not to keep bashing the rigs and working the trail as hard as they care to.

It's in a tree'd area...it's not a mine site. It could very well be private property though. The other video looks like just a graded hillside, no evidence pointing it to being a mine site.

I just laughed when at the end, what got him up was more brains and less skinny pedal.

Trees grow a lot quicker down south that they do here. A LOT quicker. And remember how old some of the mines back east are and how long it has been since they were used. In one of the other videos the hill they are climbing looks very much like a strip mined area.

I've seen old strip mines that have bigger trees than any that we normally see in this part of Alaska at all!

I'm not going to insist that that's what this is. But it appears that is a likely possibility.

I had several thots about Dans vids, one was the impact on the trail... Like who is going to put all the dirt back when there is nothing left but rock? I am pretty sure the vids were shot at Hurricane Mills, Tennessee offroad park. The area is known for its coal mining history.

Another thot was what a waste of fuel and tires. I don't think his rig even has a winch. I guess its a different kind of riding, to each his own. Personally I prefer to ride slower, like winch speed, but love to watch fast, high horsepower stuff.

Ya gotta appreciate craftmanship, he's built a fine rig

Those are some old vids of Dans rig on private property down south, I forget what state. Dan has a winch front and rear. And that thing is built to the hilt. front and rear steering Rockwells with 2" Overson shafts, built 454. He has been running the same cut 44" Boggers for a couple of years now so they must be holding up well to all of the abuse he gives them. He post a lot on www.pirate4x4.com

My point is more that we have very few places that can support that type of "determination".

I agree, it would be cool if we had some hills or pits that could be abused like that.

Yawn...any fool can poor money into a rig and push the skinny pedal to the floor and hold it there. Pretty boring after the first 10 seconds if you ask me.

Hell it is a ORV park....if you want to get to the top of the hill why not take the access road to the top. You could even drive you car there so you could have heated seats.

Looks like a day of good fun. Private land I would hope. 2's up. Hard to find some good action on U-tube when it comes to wheeling. Nice rigs that can handle a beating!
