--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I went back today and took some pics after reading everyones posts. Heres what I got..it appears that when i was hit, in the tire, it snapped off both rear tires and tore off one of the control arms, and also the coil springs. this leaves the rear dif in a "free float" position if you will. When she hit me in the rear tire and bumper, it split the rear corner seam, and also tweaked the body. When the jeep landed, it landed upside down first, and right under the seat is a big bulge where the rear dif hit the tub right under the seat. almost like turning your jeep over and dropping a diff on its underside. it was apparent that the bubble actualy caused the front brackets to spread apart. and the entire roll cage is tweaked due to the fact it landed on its top, and you can see where the rear fender wells are slanted outward, almost like the body kinda spread due to the force of it landing on the roll cage. the rear seat brackets arent straight up and down anymore, they almost have a "camber" to them. SO....basicalyy combining the tweaking of the body during intial impact in a rear corner, a diff striking the underside of the tub directly under the seat and spreading the front brackets, when the impact on the roll cage was transfered down to the rear fender wells, the body spread, and i beleive that was enough to do it. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know, so when I get my next jeep, Lord willing< ill know how to improve it!! Ill send the pix to some of the guys and see if they can post them for me. theres no damage to the latch or the pins. and the seat was found still latched in the upright position. |

Maybe that information would be worth telling to Jeep. Finding the right person or department will be a challange.

Thats why roll bars should be connected to the frame.

line the cargo area under the seat and walls with 3/8 plate steel. fully seam weld it all. then bolt that thru to the frame and several places to the sheetmetal. you can also weld in diagnal bracing too.
