Default Need help mounting rescue operation

Hey all, i have a buddy that went muddin with another guy yesterday and they got stuck pretty bad. the other guy then went and got his gf's truck to rescue the first and got that truck stuck too. Im lookin at mounting a rescue op, I need at least another truck to go with, I dont want to become a victim as well.

Im having winch issues Im going to try to work out but I might need a new solenoid.

Give me a call if you want to take a nice drive to North Birchwood area. At least he was nice enough to get stuck in a more convenient location as opposed to gunsite mountain!!

Ya shoulda called!!

Cody and I went out and got them out. we spent more time playing and getting stuck and unstuck (ok ok mostly me) than pulling them out.

One would think if two total strangers mounted up a rescue mission and drove out to ya, winch ya out, you would at least give em a few coins for gas dontcha think?

Kids these days......

Common courtesy isn't common. I normally tell people ahead of time (obviously friends excluded) that if I have to drive out of my way to pull you out then I expect gas money. I don't need to actually make money pulling someone out but I'm sure not going to lose money doing it unless I know them or there are circumstances beyond their control. Compensating someone for their expenses is the least they can do when they are doing you a favor.

Bad Karma comes back ten fold and that was one im thinking you can offset that by making good with others and the solid you did by pulling those guys out But who knows this could all be B.S.

If you expect to get paid or somthing in return you should establish that before leaving the driveway. I have been asked several times to drag my truck to retrieve someone's rig out of stops. They don't take into account the cost of towing my rig and my time. If it's at 9 mile (about 15 minutes from my house) I usually start at $250. Now this is for a complete stranger. If it's a friend I'll do it for beer. But I tell them what flavor before I hook up the trailer.

Wow I guess I should have started charging years ago. At those rates I wouldn't have to work. I know myself and other club members do recoveries often, mostly on Wainwright and Repp road. Both of which are a short drive. Usually I get nothing in return. Unless it's going to require an immense amount of work to get someone out.

You know the people I am talking about Mel. The irresponsible ones that want to buy a truck and just go out and tear it up. Then call a friend of a friend to find a big truck. I'll charge them all day long. Maybe they will learn to prepare better. Luke use to come to me all the time about one of his friends is stuck. I got sick of it. I don't want to be known as "That Guy" and if they are doing something illegal I don't want to be there and have my truck associated. My truck is too recognizable.
Hey if you enjoy dropping everything your doing and spend an afternoon getting someone out then good on ya, have fun. But like I said if its a friend I'm down in a second if I am free.

Where exactly can you legally go "mudding" in North Birchwood? Private property?

Oh I know Dusty. Especially with that area. Ever since S. cushman Flats closed they all migrated down there. It's the same on FWA. Most are young soldiers in a 4x4 with an Affordable used cars sticker.

One of my students told me they wheel by the shooting range. I used it as a teaching moment, but I am sure the kids still go out that way He got stuck once and I would not go pull him out.

I am very familiar wth that area, we lived there awhile back, been a member of BRSP since it was Izaak Walton. The vacant land past the current BRSP is, I believe, BRSP property also, and has been closed to the public for several years, The land before BRSP is either state or privately owned. I'm at a loss to remember any area open to off roading LEGALLY.

the lot at the end of the road, past BRSP, is native corp. I used to access that little cove of flats/marsh out there to duck hunt via this ppty.
