Default Knik SAR 4/05/2015

In case you are not on FB this morning a friend has posted that a SxS and 2 ATVs did not return home last night. He is headed out from anc soon. I'm loaded and leaving. Hopefully it is a false alarm but with the snow this morning ...

The Alaska Bush will kill you. You never know what is going to happen. Accident, weather, broken equipment... Last night's 3" of snow could have easily been 3'.

Please take the time to file a flight plan with someone you trust before heading out. Let them know where you are headed, who is going, what survival equipment is carried and the approximate time you will return. This is easy and will save lots of time and worry for those you leave behind.

It will also preserve resources. When you need help, you want to know that help is on the way. Repeat calls for search and rescue will likely go unanswered if you have a record of false allerts. I got a text on this at 0330. Just saying...
